Tools, tools and more tools

I am taking some time to clean out all the saved posts in my Bloglines accounts. One of the ‘jobs’ is to look for new tools to help teachers meet the learning needs of their students. So here are two resources I found in my feeds. These two alone will keep me very busy. But what resources to have at my finger tips. First Jim Coe at Bionic Teaching shares Online Media God from Mashable. This list contains more then…

Connected to a Greater Mind

Connected to a Greater Mind

At work some times I hear the following comments, they usually make me blush. How do you do it all? How to you know so much? You are so smart. I can always count on you to have an answer. I knew you would know. I’d love to take credit for it all but the reality is I am connected to a greater mind. I am learning everyday reading blogs, checking out wikis and talking to my network. Digital Plan Book

This web based tool allows the user to create an interactive Web exhibit. I have been thinking about the Social Studies and Science teachers who make interactive Hyperstudio projects (looking forward to checking out the reprise of hyperstudio) or Keynote/PowerPoints. I think this may be a great option for updating the…

Ning as a Professional Development Platform

Ning as a Professional Development Platform

When it comes to providing an on-line component for professional development in my district we have been using Moodle and wikispaces and Google groups. Depending on the length of the professional development or proficiency of users these tools have served us well. But I have been taking a look at Ning as an option. As we develop more professional learning communities, could Ning be a more appropriate tool? Would creating a social network for each group foster a deeper level…
