Getting ready for a new school year.
I thougth this summer I would have done more writing on the blog. My head is full of ideas but the time just seems to fly away. I have spent the summer reading blogs and playing with tech tools. Many teachers take the time to catch up on a good book, or take a class, for me it was blogs. I learn so much from different blogs; what are the cool websites (I could also learn that from my daughter), how web 2.0 tools can change the face of education, and what tools work in a classroom.
I spent sometime making podcasts for the extended family. I had my folks talk about all the old family photos and created enhanced podcasts on my Mac.
I created a family website with photo, blog and podcast pages with iweb and my .mac account.
I received a new Skype phone courtesy of ScreenCasts Online and made my first call on the computer – it was fun!
But play time is over and now I need to get ready to go back to school. How can I take what I have learned and make it meaningful for teachers? How can I support them in the work they need to do? How can the tools we have present in our district be leveraged to facilitate student learning? (That is the ultimate goal of education, to provide opportunities for student growth and learning.) How can my efforts make a positive difference for our teachers and students?
I love what I do. I am excited by the challenges and am looking forward to another year back at school. I learn so much everyday I hope I can pass it on. And maybe find the time to share it all on the blog.
