David Warlick has be on since 8:30 and this session goes till 12:20 how does he keep going. His third session is entitled Harnessing the New Shape of Information, covers many web 2.0 tools. Handouts for the presentation can be found at this wiki space.

David’s Opinion: Something big is getting ready to happen to change heh educational Landscape with Web 2.0 tools.
It began in the 18th century with the Pamphlet movement, as paper became cheap literacy increased.
Fast forward to the 21st century with the advent of such tools as blogger.com, the publishing cost is $0 and it caused an increase in digital literacy.
There is a new sense of citizen journalism it is changing how we do things.
Blogs need a goal to be successful. In Mobilblogging (moblogging) errors may be present. Beth was moblogging an earlier keynote. David mentions that yesterday after Will Richardson’s presentation a women came up to him to thank him for just commenting on her blog. (That was me, I feel honored)
David’s goals for his blogging
**Holy mission to retool education for the 21st century
** Income generator
There is very little technology involved in blogging, it is a transparent very unimpressive process. Site admin, write, publish
Bogging transforms a writing assignment into a communication, kids want to communicate, it is an intrinsic human need. They want to do it, want to do it well.
Content as Conversation
Tools designed to help make instant publishing less scary for educators
ePals
Gaggle-student emails safely
Imbee – Free
ClassBlogmeister David’s free safe blogging environment
It is literacy because it is communication
Blogging is a life long learning engine
How to find a blog: Technorati, blogpulse.com
Your blog is successful if 2000 readers, apply for google ads and earns money
Content is conversation
Size doesn’t matter! Info is shaped differently requires a different sense of literacy
Mashup: (taking data from other sites and doing something to make it useable.
Buzztracker.com
Hitchhikr.com (David’s mashup) register conferences
Content behaves based on the behavior of its readers
A major shift in how we find information how we are training information to find us (RSS/XML//subscribe/syndicate)
Well that ends Becky’s notes, sorry I missed this one.
