Ready, Set… EduCon
Tomorrow I leave for EduCon 2.3, this will be my 4th EduCon. I have been there since the beginning, and I would not miss it for the world. I attend other conferences, sit in sessions and try to absorb all that is shared with me. It is when I get in the hallway, chat with others and have time to think that I can I finally process what I sat through. EduCon to me is one long hallway conversation, filled with ah ha moments, and deep reflection. EduCon is where I go to get fed.
I have presented at other conferences and EduCon, this will be my second year. The presentation style is different. At a more traditional conference I lead, talk and share information. At EduCon the presenter sets the stage, posses the questions and then everyone participates. The presenter is not viewed as the expert, but more facilitator and guide. I tried this style at a more traditional conference and it did not go well. People wanted to be passive. But at EduCon learning is an active, collaborative, participatory ‘sport’. Learning is deep, meaningful and fun.
This year I am co-presenting with, EduCon first timer, Leo Brehm. We are hosting a conversation on change: Same as it ever was, but does it have to be? It should be fun I am looking forward to hearing what others have to share.
